how do i train my puppy when i work all day and come home to a messy apartment-help...?
i live in an apartment and recently bought a japaneese spitz/pappilion puppy. i work all day and usually come home to poop everywhere -mainly in the kitchen area. ive put another piddle mat in the kitchen aswell as at the back door. ive tried spraying puppy training wee scent on the mat and he's almost got the weeing on the mat bit down, but he will just not poo on it. its hard because i work 5 days a week and dont often know when he has pooed so its hard to punish him 3 hours ater he's actually went to the toilet in the wrong place. he also does not poo straight after eating and is always awake when im going to bed and when i wake up in the morning so its hard to know when he's going to relieve himself. ive been reading peoples advice and i honestly dont know how anyone keeps an extremely hyper puppy on a piddle mat for more than 10 seconds. please help. ive come to a brick wall at this stage....
I crate trained my dog, you may or may not want to do that, it can make them a little hyper when you get home
but use that principle, using a crate or a room or small area os your house, put them there, w/ bed, food etc
dogs are den animals and eventually she will learnt not to mess in her home... they don't really like sleeping and eating in their mess esp when they get older (young pups take a while to figure it out).
also i suggest using one of those scent marking solutions for a mat or something so they know to go in one spot, it worked for me until my dog stopped messing and held it while i was at work
most important, if walk the dog for 15-30minutes b/f you leave b/f and after you feed it
then walk it when you get home
if nothing works, there is doggie day camp, and pet sitters
