Is it normal for a 9 month old to throw toys?
He is in the crib or the play pen even on my lap and I'll give him a toy/toys (stuffed animal, teether, stack rings ect) and he takes anything and every thing and throws it out of the crib/playpen. I gave him about 12 toys at once to see what he would do and one by one he through them out of the crib.
is this normal?
Yes.
He is a big young for it, but that is because he is "ahead". He is advanced for his age, it is absolutely normal for young toddlers to do that.
In part he is advanced because at 9 months he is pulling up taking a toy with him, and then able to throw it. Forward throwing motion is usually 12 months plus.
Dropping toys from a sitting position is normal in infancy, but picking up a toy from the floor, standing with it, and throwing it is advanced.
Babies from 6 months to 2 years LOVE putting things into and out of containers. It is definite favorite game!
At 14.5 months my guys remove everything from the crib that isn't strapped down, and also like to drop toys behind the childproof gates. BIG FUN! I have about 40 toys around me right now just from this afternoon, because they pick up everything (sippy cups too!) and drop them by the computer (other side of the gate).
