Toy Bone
my dog acts like her toy is a baby.. why?
my dog is a 6 year old poodle. She will carry her toy bone with here everywhere. when we go to sleep she'll sleep with me and she'll bring her bone in bed and try to hide it. she acts like its a baby and it has to go everywhere, it seems like shes mothering it. she'll even lick it over and over. its really annoying and i want to know why she is doing this. i have noticed it just started about a month ago. but i don't think shes craving attention because she is treated like a queen... does anyone have any answers???? if so please help. thanks
she has other toys. and its only one she does it with. she is not spayed. and ive never taken it away.
You're aware that a Poodle is a Retriever, right? This is not crazy behavior. Retrievers like to carry things around and hang on to them. My dog even takes her toys to the door with her to go out. She's apparently protecting her toys from those imaginary other dogs that we live with. 
She just likes to keep her toys with her.
The other situation that you will see a b*tch exhibit such behavior is with a false pregnancy. Is your dog spayed? Or intact? If she's had a false pregnancy, she will adopt small objects in the environment as her 'pups'. So if this behavior came out of nowhere and she was recently in heat, she may have had a false pregnancy.
