Ruby Red
Ruby red dye is dying pink on a completly white fabric, what am I doing wrong?
Ultra white fabric 90% nylon 10% spandex. Dye is "ruby red" liquid dye from Rit Dye. Using the stovetop method, 5 cups of water and 3/4 tbsp liquid dye. Need the white fabric to be "ruby red" but it is dying different shades of pink each time I try (I varied the soak time to see if I could get red out of it).
If you are using dye that doesn't specify it is intended for man made fibres, than that is your problem. Natural fibres take dyes better than nylon and spandex. Make sure the package is labelled for the type of fabric that you wish to dye. Also, depending on how much fabric you are dying, you may need an additional package for the colour intensity.
