God is a word, the godS (plural) that the bible refers to are aliens to colonized the world. The genesis story was stolen from the Sumerians, who's creation story is much more detailed and congruent mostly with the bible version. The Creation story is actually one that all of the ancient civilizations (BC) believed in. WORLDWIDE.
The problem with translations is that they miss a few things (thousands in the King James version). The earth became a desolation with the arrival of the gods.
