Radio dog collar fence?
Hi, I am moving in about a week and I want my dog to know that he is NOT allowed to go upstairs at all. However, I still want him to be able to be on the first floor. It would be very hard to train him out of going upstairs, so I want to have an instant correction. Will a radio dog fence work? I need it to be at a very small radius, because otherwise he would get shocked when not even near the steps. Will a radio collar fence work for this? They are designed for larger areas and I am having doubts about whether or not it will work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
We have six people in our family, none of them is going to be happy about having to open and close a baby gate every single time they go up and down the stairs. This won't work for me.
You can use a shock collar or invisible fence, but did you know that small electricutions are worse than large ones? (And when I mean large, I mean lightning bolt large) because small ones like that only stop your heart little by little, which means a shorter life span, while a giant electricution completely stops and restarts your heart just like that, so I don't suggest using any electricity.
My friend does this with her dog.
Just a plain old baby gate will work.
If your dog is too big for them and can open them or jump over them, then try spraying "Grannick's Bitter Apple Spray" on your dog whenever he gets near the stairs. Eventually he'll get the message.
