New pet, cat, dog, rabbit, or ferret?
Help!
Please do not purchase a ferret unless you have the time, money, and energy for one. They are very high maintenance animals; you have to clean out the litter at least once a day, completely clean the cage, clip their nails, and clean their ears every week, and they need at least four hours of supervised playtime every day, among countless other things. Baby ferrets need a lot of care and attention, and they are VERY energetic and harder to care for since you have to discipline the ferret, litter train it, etc.
If you do decide to get a ferret, PLEASE do your research. Ferrets for Dummies is a very good book to read on deciding whether or not a ferret is the pet for you and how to care for it properly. I also suggest joining a ferret forum, like the one here: forum.ferret.com/
Also please be aware of the shots they need and how much they cost. And, just know that it is advised to keep at least $1000 kept away for medical emergencies per ferret. Additionally, you should be sure you have a ferret-knowledgeable vet in your area.

Edit: In address to the "ferrets stink" comments, as long as you have the ferret on a good quality food, clean the litter box and cage properly, etc., ferrets do not smell at all.
