bbq season approaches -5 tips to keep in mind
Hopefully we'll have something that resembles a summer this year, and with that, good trips to the beach -and barbecues. We all love a bbq, but how can we make sure we all enjoy the event and make it go off smoothly?
- Make sure the meat is properly cooked. It sounds simple, but most cases of food poisoning occur at bbqs, where the food hasnt been cooked enough. Looks can be decieving, cut the meat to make sure that its not pink inside, and if it is put it back on the grill and cook it for abit longer. While were on the point of reducing food poisioning at your event, either defrost all meat in the fridge 24 hours before, or make sure your microwave can defrost.
- Never leave the grill on and unguarded. This is just asking for an accident to happen, as people can fall drunkenly fall into it, the bbq could be knocked over or worst of all -you'll ending up burning the food.
- Dont try to use loads of lighter fluid. Sure the huge flame looks impressive, but fire has no master and can be uncontrollable, and you never need as much lighter fluid as you think to get the job done.
- Have a vegetarian alternative. Yeah i know, Hitler was a vegetarian, and vegetables dont taste as nice as our nice juicy steak, but a few vegetarian burgers wont kill us. That way you keep the vegetarians happy, and you know your burger wont be complete with abit of crisp lettuce. Allow the vegetables to compliment the meat, making it taste better and giving your plate abit of colour.
- Make preparations afew days earlier. How many people will you need to buy food for, who has special dietry requirements, whats the weather going to be like on the day- being prepared for these things ensures your bbq will run more smoothly. Theres no point in stocking up on alcohol if everyones' gonna be driving down, or doing it when its raining.
