using a martingale dog collar?

I replaced my dogs choke chain with a nylon martingale dog collar. She likes it better then the choke chain. I put it on her so it wont choke her when she pulls hard and i can still pull it off her. Is that the right way to use it?

I use the martingales with the fabric or leather collar and the chain triangle bit where you attach the lead to the ring. I've been using them for 10 years.

I love martingales. No messing around with buckles to put the collar on and take it off, just slip it over the head. It's easy to get a perfect fit so the dog can't pull backwards out of the collar and it's always loosely comfortable around their neck unless they pull.

It sounds like you're using it the right way.

ADD: Martingales come in all widths, not just wide ones for sight hounds. I use tiny ones for my Cavaliers, not because the dogs pull but because the collars have no buckles to fiddle around with.
