Is a heating pad a good idea for newborn puppies?
I purchased a lectro kennel warming pad with temp control for them. I want to insure that the puppies are warm enough. (Boxers) We keep our house at about 65 degrees. Do you think it is ok to put the heating pad in the whelping box where they can get away from it if they want. Should I also turn up the heat from 65 and use the pad? Should I send the pad back? She is due in a couple days and Im starting to get that excited but anxious feeling. I just want to do the best for them. I adopted this dog pregnant and Im trying to get the final things in place. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. She is going to x ray tomorrow evening. They will be in a draft free area. Thanks in advance.
Yes I would still use the heat pad under a blanket for the first week of the puppies live they don't know how to shiver untill they are nearly a week therefor the slightest chill can harm them. Good Luck
