Researching new dog for my family pet- what do you think and why?
I have a lifetime of experience with large dogs. cats and horses. Little dogs are a 'whole new world for me"
We live in the city, have a backyard- good dog home in or out of the house. Here's the question. I have a 3yr old son, "a hand full" a husband that only wants a large dog ( Rot, Lab or GoldnRet) and me want a "Yorkie" toy that can travel with us.
What do you think?
OPEN TO IDEAS..... my dog is 15 and will pass soon. So I wanted to get a new dog before that happens.
well, i would suggest a west highland white terrier. it's small, but not like whimpy or feminine. when i coaxed my parents into letting me get an inside dog, we settled on a westie because they can be cute and cuddley, but they're also "solid" enough to not be a "little girly dog." (as my dad says.) westies act like a big dog, but they're also small enough to snuggle up with you.
i think both you and your husband would be satisfied with a westie, because you apparently want something cute and small that can travel with you, and your husband wants the personality of a lab, which is exactly how a westie is! plus, westies are good with kids, especially if you get it as a puppy and it grows up with your son. and it's small enough that you wouldnt have to worry about it trying to play too rough with your son either.
