How to braid four strands?

Okay, so I want to make and sell dog tug toys and leashes, I know how to braid 3 strands of material, but I need 4. Videos don't help me, so is there a picture or can someone make one that shows how to braid 4 strands of material for the tugs/leashes? Help!

I have heard a multi-strand braid called a fishtail or a fishtail braid. You might try looking up instruictions for that. If videos don't help you, there's a strong chance you're an auditory learner. Get good written instructions for your project, then read them aloud to yourself or have someone read them to you. Sure, you feel like an idiot the first time or two, but it works and is then worth it.

Why do you need four strands to make a dog tug toy? For a medium or big dog, I'd use six or even nine -- three double or triple strands. Braid as normal. For the biggest dog, make your braid of three strand of braid. For a little bitty dog (under 6 pounds) just braid three.
