I'm getting a new puppy, does somebody know a COMPLETE list of dog supplies needed?

Someone who has a dog would be the best at answering this. Also, make sure your list is precise. Thanks so much!

ok
you will need for your first night-

a bowl for water and food-
you might want to also put down a place mat because dogs can make messes with their food and water

food-
some people recommend just dry food so talk to whoever you are getting the puppy from-if your puppy doesn't seem to enjoy the dry food you could try some wet food...make sure you get a good brand of food either way(i use beniful dry and pedigree wet)

a collar and a leash-
or for some dogs a harness is a good choice...sometimes puppies can slip out of their collars so make sure that your puppy's collar is tight enough-for leashes i would recommend a retractable leash down the road but for now a training leash would work fine

your puppy's medical records

tags for your puppy's collar-
this is VERy important to have...you can get one made at walmart or petsmart for about $5

a crate-
if the puppy is young it may not be house trained...many dog owners choose to house train their dog using a method called crate training where you put the dog in a crate because dogs will not go to the bathroom where they sleep...this method my not work for all dogs for example my dog would cry all night when you put her in a crate and really just wanted to be around people
with that crate you will need some blankets and/or a bed for your dog

puppy pee pads-
that is an other method of house training

toys-
your puppy will probably be very energetic and want to play so be sure to have toys that are an appropriate size for you puppy

treats-
treats are well treats for your dog...don't overload them with treats though because they will get sick...use treats to reward your dog not for them to snack on

over time you will probably want to get-
a flea and tick preventative(ask your dog's vet)

a tooth brush and toothpaste-
yes i realize this sounds ridiculous but dogs teeth do need to be brushed (your vet will probably support me in this) if you don't brush your dog's teeth they can lead to cavities and very expensive dental procedures for your puppy

a brush-
puppies love to be brushed!

your dog spayed or neutered if their not-
this is just basic...unless of course you would like to have more puppies when your dog grows up! most dogs there is a certain age that before then they cannot under go the surgery so check with your vet

rawhide bones-
dogs can get very stressed and chewing the rawhide bone can help them release that tension

shampoo/conditioner-
you shoul give your dog a bath probably once a month or you could take them to the groomers once a moth but that can cost a lot so a good puppy shampoo will probably do the trick
