Halloween’s coming by and as your pet dog is also a part of your family, why not dress him up too for this special occasion? However, many dogs are not comfortable with cheap dog clothes so it would be better to go for part costumes such as have him wear hats or bandannas. You can either make a full costume or just the headpiece of the costume as your pet might not be too keen in wearing the complete costume. Following is a list of Halloween dog costume ideas for your pet for this upcoming event.
First of all is the Hot Dog costume. The very first of all unique dog costumes in our list is the ‘hot dog’ costume. In order to prepare this Halloween costume for your pet, the following things will be needed- tan colored lightweight foam for the hot dog buns, glues, scissors, felts for adding on the ketchup and mustard and at last but not the least, a dog harness for helping your dog manage this costume. The first step requires you to cut out buns from the foam.
The hot dog bun should be cut according to the length of your pet’s shoulder and therefore it would be better to measure your dog first. Glue the foam buns to both the sides of the dog harness after rounding of the sides of the foam bun. The dog harness is the essential part of this costume as it would help to keep the costume in place.
Next is the bumble bee dog costume and the materials required for making it are as follows- yellow fabric or yellow colored dog t-shirt, black and yellow felts , 2 pom poms or 2 Styrofoam balls, scissors, glue and pipe cleaners as needed. The first step in preparing this costume is cutting the yellow fabric according to your dog’s measurement in order to make a cape that can be tied to your dog’s neck. You can also use yellow dog t-shirt for making the body of the bumble bee.
Cut out bee like stripes from the black felt for this bumble bee costume and then glue it on the cape or on the t-shirt. Create a cap for your dog by gluing the rest of the black felt according to the measurement of your canine friend’s head. Attach two pipe cleaners to the hat and then pom poms or the Styrofoam balls to the other end of the pipe cleaner for making the antenna.
Now for your female pet, here is an idea on making the perfect princess dog costume. This is quite easy as you will just need a head piece for your pet in order to make this costume work. The materials required for preparing this costume are- construction paper as needed, elastic band, silk, georgette or any kind of shimmery fabric, scissors and glues.
Measure your dog’s head and then cut out the construction paper in order to make a cone from it. You can cover the cone with the shimmery fabric or you can also keep the cone as it is. Then cut and then glue the fabric to the cone so that it would flow like a train.
Now add the elastic band by either gluing or stapling it to the cone so that it can go under the chin of your dog and keep it snugly fit. Here. The Princess Dog Costume is completed.
