How do you rip a shirt in the back? please help big party soon!!?

okay so i was watching and episode of my super sweet sixteen last night and the girl got a custom designer from ed hardy to bring custom shirts for her and her friends. just on the spot, he took scissors and cut horizontal slits down the back of the shirt and then somehow folded it down so it was all twisted together on the edges.. i wish i could describe it better, but here's a link to show you, you'll have to know what you're looking for, so at 1 minute, 30 seconds, watch what the back of the shirt looks like. it looks like he weaved a strip of fabric through the edges. i want to be able to do it at home because i want to do it to my favorite shirt. i have this huge party coming soon and everyone expects me to look the best. thank you so much to my best answer-er or whoever knows what im talking about!
