Spill Berms: Solution To Spill Containment

Spill Berms are very important in the containment of spills of hazardous materials or oil. Specific spill control regulations are outlined in EPA 40 CFR 264.175 and 40 CFR 112.7. There are a wide variety of berms available to meet different containment needs at Spill 911.

Auto-Collapse Berms

• Easy to set up.
• Specially designed to allow sidewalls to collapse in any direction and then revert automatically to an upright position.
• Driving a truck or rolling barrels over the walls is easy and the walls quickly return to vertical position.
• The auto-collapse walls in some models are at the entry and exit points.
• Berm is made of XR5, a polymer coated fabric that is durable and chemical resistant.
• Sump capacity varies from 269 gallons to over 7,405 gallons.

Perma Berm

• This is a flexible modular containment system.
• Sections can be joined together to reach the appropriate length.
• Sections are 13½' W x 5' L x 8" H each.
• Panels bolt together and are sealed with buna rubber gaskets.
• Has drive-in/drive-out feature with a ramp that provides easy access.
• Steel construction has a coat of rust inhibitor primer with a top coat of equipment enamel.
• Rust-proof and durable.
• Each system must have two end sections for complete truck and tanker containment.
• There can be an unlimited number of mid-sections.
• Designed to meet EPA and OSHA requirements.
• Sturdy and able to withstand heavy use.
• System can be moved and reconfigured and may be used on solid substrates.
• Can be used is a fuel transfer station, remote storage pad or wash station.
• Load bearing capacity varies with the number of modules utilized and this will vary a great deal.  The range is from 1,300 lbs. to over 40,000 lbs.

Flexwall Berms

• Versatile and popular berm.
• Easy setup only takes a few minutes and the support halves slide together quickly.
• End wall design utilizes a foam collar that allows entry and exit walls to automatically stand up when the berm is full of fluid.
• Vehicles can drive in and out of the berm without having to lower or raise the walls manually.
• Rounded ends are intended to minimize pressure areas on the sidewalls and reduce the chance of corner tears.
• Made of 30 ounce berm fabric which is impervious to oils, fuels, potassium chloride, sodium phosphate, hydrochloric acid, 5% nitric acid, and others.
• Can be used in temperatures as low as -40º F.
• Resistant to tears and abrasions
• Comes with patch kit and drain plugs.

Snap-Up Berms

• Provide a quick, easy means of spill containment.
• Has a sturdy sidewall with exterior supports.
• Interior is 100% usable space.
• Set-up is simple, just slide the support halves together.
• Composed of 30 ounce beam fabric which is resistant to many known chemicals.
• Has all of the features of the Flexwall berms.
