Am I being paranoid about my rabbits?
When I was 12 I had a gray bunny. It was the cutest thing and I loved it to death. Our family had three and my dad build a really nice hutch in the back yard for them. . Through a series of sad events mine died from a bug bite that resulted in a larva in my bunny's neck. The vet was able to remove it but there was a chance that she was too young for the operation. She died that night in my arms after having a heart attack (which was very emotionally damaging to me).....six years later (last night) my dad brough home three baby bunnies that he got from a guy he works with (his daighter breeds show rabbits and these three were the defected ones, i.e. diff colored paws, ears too long, eyes wrong color)...Now there is talk of building another hutch for them. Am I being paranoid if I don't want them outside because of my previous experience with an outdoor rabbit? I'm not superstitious or anything but it seems like deja vu because the rabbits are the same color that the other ones were.

If you are in the US, contact this website and let your dad read for himself that so many things can go wrong with putting them in a hutch outside. I think what happened to your bunny is call fly strike and it is very common. Not to mention they can get very stressed (stress kills them too) when a preditor comes near their cage, like coons and possums, cats kill rabbits too. Coons get into hutches so easily, don't be fooled. Go to the website, contact this group with any questions and give the information to your father. My rabbit got a parasite from being outside from another animal. He almost died but I found a specialist for my rabbit who saved him. You need to get an exotic vet for your rabbit. Alot of stupid vets out their will take your money and they don't know enough about rabbits, that is wrong. See website below. Gook luck and great that you have alot of sense.
