How long can I leave a Bengal cat/kitten at home?
How long can I leave a Bengal cat/kitten at home? I am thinking about getting a bengal cat.
I have school for 5-6 hours each day. But for one of those hours, I come home to eat lunch and I would give him/her some company.
What is the maximum amount of hours I could leave a bengal at home? ************* Answer this most importantly.
It really depends how young the kitten is. If s/he is still being bottle fed, s/he will need to receive care often throughout the day.
I'd recommend not allowing an older kitten access to the entirety of your house if you need to be gone for a long period (jumping on undesirable places and scratching could be problems, depending on your cat's personality; even if they don't need the care of a bottle baby). If you can't isolate them, take the proper measures to have catnip imbued scratching boards and covered/inaccessible trash cans, etc.
An adult cat that is properly litter trained (or else has access to the outside) is just fine for that duration of time. I, myself, have two cats (both adults) that are just fine throughout a normal workday of 8 hours. Again, take the proper measures to encourage proper scratching places, etc.
