She Smiled Every Time She Thought Of Decorating

She lay back in the king-size bed and pulled up the bright covers around her shoulders. It was one of those king quilts that you could lie on top of and pull the sides over you without unmaking the bed.

She had gone through hundreds of quilt sets to find just the one she wanted. She loved emerald green and the print was modern and splashy. She knew she had good taste and this proved it. She had the matching set with four pillow shams and it was the exact color she wanted.

Her grouping of three plants was impressive. The large one was a floor plant and the two small ones sat on the top of the cherry dresser. The leaves were bright shiny green. Their leaves were reflected in the mirror behind them. She congratulated herself on what she had accomplished.

A pair of gold color Tiffany lamps stood on the matching night tables. There was a wicker basket at the foot of the large sleigh bed. It covered up some of the carvings she loved so much. She went over and moved it into the closet. That was better.

She touched the wood carvings and smiled to herself. She made a note to herself to buy a rug or two for the hardwood floors. She walked over to the chest of drawers. Yes, the floor did look a little bare.

I'm going to get a few small rugs she thought as she put her items in the drawers. She had black nightgowns and all colors of the rainbow among the many other items. She was lavishly shopping whenever she felt like it.

Life is sweet since we won the lottery, she mused. Remembering someone griping about how much she would have to pay for taxes, she laughed out loud. So what, there was enough left to generate income for three lifetimes.

Walking over to her computer she opened a browser and took out her credit card. She entered a few bits of information and quickly donated to her two best loved charities. Tomorrow she would look for one more she decided.

When her housekeeper stopping by to ask if she wanted coffee or anything, she said hi and no thanks. When she hired her, she insisted the lady call her by her first name. She also did not want her to wear a uniform. She treated her more like a friend than an employee. The woman earned twice the salary a housekeeper would normally earn. Now she could afford to do all the things she felt like doing. Anything, she could afford anything. Tomorrow she could go out and buy a new dining room set and maybe she would.
